New Stuff

I'm going to try to get more proactive with my updates. Look out for some wallpapers that will be available early next week. And keep your eyes open for the Great Day video that should be online next week too.

We're working at this from ground up so I really need the support of fans and friends. Please follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/@misscalibe. I'll let you know there where new material is available and what's going on day to day.

Tonight I'm performing 2 venues in South Florida. The Big Show up in Coral Springs and Honorebel's Birthday Party at Opium Hard Rock. Wish me luck, or break a leg, or whatever :-)

Have a great week all!

Up to the time

A quick update. We just shot the video for Great Day (available for free download from the "Listen" page). I'm really excited about the footage I've seen so far. We're trying to get the final edits done so we can get it up online by next week.

The record "It's My Birthday" was signed to Ultra / Payday Records about 2 weeks ago and I understand the re-release date is September 17th. The success of it on the first go round leads me to want to believe that the song has enough potential to start to move on its own with the right people behind it.

I'm looking forward to having a much better go at it in the near future. Cheers!

Destiny

Destiny is now available for download at Amazon.com. Click the "listen" tab and select the song to download.

So hooray! We shot a first video for me by Blackout Movement on Sunday and it's online already. Black and Styles did a great job with the "filming", especially since it was done on 2 HTC-EVO phones from Sprint, and Black did great with the editing, especially as a first timer.

We're off to Long Island next weekend for a concert with a supergreat lineup. I'm looking forward to a lot more productivity in the next few months, by the grace of God and sheer effort.

Now if I could only re-focus on the gym....

Launch Related Site

July 2010 Update

OK, so I'm clearly bad at keeping on top of my website, but on the bright side, every time I do, it's because something's going on. I'm on Ultimate Domination Records / Blackout Movement now and it's been a great year so far. The shows are coming, date by date, the spins are coming day by day, I have all of 7 followers on Twitter as of today, and I'm hoping to say farewell to my personal recession in the next few weeks.

I've started reading again and 1 very valid point has stuck with me through it. I can't remember who, but one of the authors pointed out that we can't control anything except what is in our minds. That's our starter sphere of influence. Instead of griping about the things we cannot change, work on the things that we can. It kind of sounds like a "duh" statement, but how many of us actually put it into practice? I spent several months sulking on my sofa having a private pity party, before I decided to get up and make sure I was busy enough to begin creating my own means. We spend so much time asking why me? why are they doing this to me? why doesn't anyone care? and so little time taking steps to ensure that the things we want are the things we are truly working toward.

I also re-learned that "fake it 'til you make it" is a valid practice!

Life is beautiful when you believe you have a purpose, and even more beautiful when you can spend every day living in that purpose. And even more beautiful when you have great people to share that life and purpose with.

To all who have found true love, cherish it like life itself. I've had great loves (2 or 3 in fact) but never true love. I guess like Dr. Seuss said - don't be sad 'cause they went, be happy because they were... or something like that :-)

It's My Birthday

Well not really, but I can party like it every day. So I've been hearing the song a few times every day on Power 96 here in Miami. I met a few of the station DJs and the program director last Friday when we ran through Justin's in Aventura. The song is building momentum every day. It's not as crazy as Texas, but we can certainly hope it gets there.

Even if you've seen the Texas video, you still can't fathom what that was like. We heard the song maybe 3 times on the drive from the airport to the radio station. The shows were crazy too. One venue was packed, the other was kind of half full but you couldn't tell when we got on stage. Corpus Christi and McAllen were loving Take Me There (first single). New Jersey was a good crowd too but I don't remember much because I was on the drugs (Comtrex).

Check us out on iTunes and Amazon. And DJs are welcome to request dubs. They go out pretty much every Sunday.

Until next time.

We're in business!

I spent most of inauguration day glued to the television, as did the rest of the world. I started at home and then moved over to a viewing party by a family friend. My face hurt from smiling so much. When my new President took the oath of office, I was filled with so much energy that I walked around my friend’s pool about 20 times, then fell asleep.

What an overwhelming feeling. Like John Lewis, I did not know what I was going to do with myself once it happened. Now I think I might. Our President called us all to service, so I will commit myself to spending at least 2 days of each month on a service project that I will choose (I spent a portion of the day on www.USAservice.org looking for one that would be right for me). Our President reminded me that we achieve a greater joy and satisfaction in achievement when we have worked hard for it, so I will work hard and believe that I deserve to be compensated well. Our President reminded me that with belief in ourselves, and constant and convicted action, we can do what we set out to do, so I will never give up on finding a way.

Michelle Obama is a divine inspiration for him, clearly then, she is an inspiration for me. Sasha and Malia seem grounded and wonderful, and have almost convinced me that children might be an option someday (big maybe). I’ve not been a big believer in marriage, but seeing this first family, my opinions are beginning to sway.

Today, I hope for everyone, that they may find the same inspiration, the same peaceful contentment in whatever corners of their mind, that I have found. I hope that it lasts beyond the euphoria of just this moment, and that we will all find a way out of the calamitous events that are shaping our today. And for the final acknowledgement of this entry, I await the day when the names Barack, Sasha and Malia do NOT solicit a red line for spelling errors in Microsoft word!
